I ran a 1x4 Davemade for years in a mazda b2000. (my garbage hauler) with a stock 70amp alternator and 1 extra group 31 battery dropped to 12.8 on long keydowns but still got 725 peak ran this for YEARS then for the stomps i added a 6volt and charged it in between stomps with an inverter peaked 1100 volted took 2nd overall that year in points. Ahh the creative cb mind!. I did evetually go to an isolated charge system and external regulation but thats alot more work. What kind of vehicle do you have ?. I also run a T.S. dx 500 with a group 27 and a 140 alt in my suburban and peak 525 on am. A little drop but rpms maintain it. I do run low drive and big swing setup.

Dodge RAM 1500 2004 with the Hemi 5.7 Liter V8. Its the only thing i can think of. My Fat boy sounds like crap when in my moblie but i hook it up to my base and run it off of my 4 batterys and it sounds fine. I am really not sure whats going on right now lol. I just got a Bronco II 1989 2.9 liter V6
I was hoping to put it in that so i dont tear up my nice rig. Any ideas?

Hey T.R. I have experience with this my ranger was the same engine. If you are going to put a extra alt in then it will fit in the air conditioning spot. The problem is that with V belts it is hard to keep tension on it. I ran my 200 amp alt with an external voltage regulator and 2 8 volt batteries at that time and my 2 pill and 8 pill was hooked up on that system. If you need any help let me know. You are going to need lots of ground on those 80's fords to help reduce noise.
